The Taiwan service industry has been developing rapidly in recent year. The industry's current output accounts for 68.6% of GDP and about 269 billion US dollars in 2009, making it a key sector on the island. 

TAITRA hopes to develop the Taiwan services industry as important link to the world. To this end, TAITRA inaugurated the Service Industry Promotion Center in July, 2006, to facilitate the globalization of Taiwan's burgeoning service industry. At present, the Center has been focusing its efforts on three service areas: medical and healthcare, cultural and creative industry construction industry, . These are currently the most important areas of Taiwan's services industry.
